COSRX vs. Mighty Patch Pimple Patches

COSRX vs. Mighty Patch Pimple Patches
The short answer

Both are plain hydrocolloid patches with no acne actives. COSRX gives you three sizes at a far lower cost per patch. Mighty Patch is one 12 mm size made for overnight wear.

COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch and Mighty Patch Original work the same way. Each is a thin hydrocolloid dressing that pulls fluid out of a whitehead and covers it so you can’t pick at it. Neither contains salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or any other drug.

The differences are size and cost. COSRX comes in three sizes, 10 small, 5 medium and 9 large in every 24 patches, so you can match the patch to the spot. In the 240-count box, each patch costs a fraction of a Mighty Patch. Mighty Patch is a single 12 mm size designed to stay on for six to eight hours, ideally overnight, and comes in 36- and 75-count packs.

What a hydrocolloid patch can and can't do

Patches work on whiteheads with fluid at the surface. Deep, sore bumps need something else.

Use patches on whiteheads. Hydrocolloid absorbs fluid. Put it on a spot with a visible white or yellow head and it draws that fluid into the patch, which turns white as it fills. It also keeps the spot covered so you can't pick at it, and keeps it moist while it heals.

A deep, sore bump under the skin won't change much. There's no fluid at the surface for the patch to pull out, so neither brand will flatten it. The patch still keeps your fingers off it, which helps. For deep breakouts that keep coming back, a treatment routine does more than any patch.

Put it on clean, dry skin with nothing underneath. Moisturizer or serum under the patch keeps it from sticking. Choose a patch slightly larger than the spot, press it down, and leave it on overnight or until the center turns white. If the spot still has a head, replace it with a fresh patch.

COSRX

COSRX Pimple Master Patch: three sizes and the best value

Best Overall
COSRX Three-Size Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches, 240 Count

Three sizes, lowest cost per patch.

240 Count Three Sizes Plain Hydrocolloid

COSRX’s Acne Pimple Master Patch is plain hydrocolloid: cellulose gum, the absorbent part, held in a flexible adhesive under a thin polyurethane film. There’s no salicylic acid or other active, so it adds nothing to a routine that already uses acne treatments.

What sets it apart is the size mix. Every 24 patches include 10 small, 5 medium and 9 large, so you can cover a tiny whitehead without a big patch, or a wider spot without the edges lifting. Pick a patch a little larger than the spot and leave it on overnight.

The 240-count box is the main reason to buy it. It costs far less per patch than Mighty Patch, which matters if you get several spots a week. If you rarely break out, 240 patches is a lot to get through.

Pros
  • Three sizes for tiny and wider spots
  • Far lower cost per patch than Mighty Patch
  • No acne actives to stack with your other treatments
Cons
  • 240 patches is more than an occasional user needs
  • Fewer medium patches than small and large
  • Higher upfront cost than a small pack
Best for
Frequent whiteheads Spots of different sizes Buying on cost per patch
Not for
Rare breakouts Deep, under-the-skin bumps
Mighty Patch 36

Mighty Patch Original 36-count: a simple pack to try

Best Starter Pack
Mighty Patch Original Nighttime Pimple Patches, 36 Count

One 12 mm size, small pack to try.

36 Count 12 mm Drug-Free

Mighty Patch Original is drug-free hydrocolloid too. Every patch is the same 12 mm circle, big enough for a typical whitehead. It goes on clean, dry skin before bed and comes off after six to eight hours, once the center has turned white. It’s dermatologist-tested and works on your face or body, including your back.

The 36-count pack is the smaller purchase, which suits you if you get a whitehead now and then or want to see whether patches work for you. Per patch it costs much more than COSRX, so if you end up using them every week, move to the bigger pack or to COSRX.

Pros
  • Small pack suits occasional breakouts
  • Drug-free hydrocolloid, dermatologist-tested
  • One 12 mm size covers a typical whitehead
  • Made for face and body
Cons
  • Much higher cost per patch than COSRX
  • No small size for tiny spots or large size for wider ones
  • Runs out fast if you break out often
Best for
Occasional whiteheads Trying patches for the first time
Not for
Frequent breakouts Deep, closed bumps
Mighty Patch 75

Mighty Patch Original 75-count: for regular Mighty Patch users

Best for Mighty Patch Fans
Mighty Patch Original Nighttime Hydrocolloid Patches, 75 Count

Same 12 mm patch, lower cost per patch than the 36-count.

75 Count 12 mm Drug-Free

This is the same 12 mm drug-free patch as the 36-count, in a bigger box. It costs noticeably less per patch than the small pack, though still well above COSRX.

Buy it if you’ve already tried Mighty Patch, like how it sticks and wears overnight, and use patches often enough to get through 75. If you haven’t settled on a brand yet, start with the 36-count, or go straight to COSRX for the lower cost per patch.

Pros
  • Same patch as the 36-count at a lower cost per patch
  • Lasts about twice as long as the small pack
  • Drug-free hydrocolloid for face and body
Cons
  • Still costs more per patch than COSRX
  • Only one size
Best for
Regular Mighty Patch users Overnight whitehead care
Not for
First-time patch users Deep bumps
Myths

What a patch doesn't do

Myth
A patch can replace an acne routine.
Fact

A hydrocolloid patch handles one spot at a time by absorbing fluid and keeping it covered. It does nothing to stop the next breakout.

Why it matters

If you’re patching spots every week, add a routine with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or adapalene, and keep patches for the spots that still show up.

Myth
A white patch means the pimple is gone.
Fact

The white is fluid the hydrocolloid has soaked up. The spot may look flatter, but it can still need another patch.

Why it matters

If the spot still has a head, put on a fresh patch instead of squeezing it.

Myth
A spot treatment under the patch makes it work better.
Fact

Anything under a plain patch stops it from sticking properly, and sealing an active under a dressing can make it more irritating.

Why it matters

Put patches on clean, dry skin. Use your spot treatment at a different time of day instead.

When patches aren't enough

Patches are for the occasional whitehead. If you get deep, painful bumps, breakouts that leave marks, or acne that keeps coming back despite a steady routine, see a dermatologist.

Conclusion

Choose COSRX Pimple Master Patch if you break out often or want the best value. You get three sizes to match the spot and a far lower cost per patch in the 240-count box.

Choose Mighty Patch Original 36-count if you only need a patch now and then, or want to try patches before you commit. It’s a single 12 mm size made for overnight wear.

Choose the 75-count if you already like Mighty Patch and use it regularly. Whichever you buy, put patches on clean, dry skin over whiteheads, not deep bumps.
