Who we are
The Skincare Space is published by TaylorCo, LLC, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA. The site is theskincarespace.com. For anything in this policy, write to privacy@taylorco.net.
The short version
We do not sell your personal information. We do not ask you to create an account. We run two analytics tools to understand which articles are useful and where readers get stuck, and we earn commission when you buy through our links. That is the whole business model.
What we collect automatically
Like nearly every website, our server records the ordinary technical details of a visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page that referred you, and the date and time. This is standard web-server logging and we use it to keep the site working and secure.
We also use Google Analytics to measure which pages people read, how they arrive, how far they scroll, and which outbound links they click. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data on our behalf. We have IP anonymization enabled, and we have not enabled Google Signals, so your activity is not joined to a Google advertising profile through us.
We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors move through a page — where they scroll, what they click, and where they get stuck. Clarity records a session replay and builds aggregate heatmaps. It does not capture what you type into form fields, and we do not use it to identify you. Microsoft keeps session recordings for 30 days and heatmap data for 9 months; those periods are set by Microsoft and we cannot change them. Clarity is treated as a statistics cookie and is blocked until you accept that category on the consent banner.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them for two things: keeping the site functioning, and analytics. We do not run advertising cookies on this site.
Where the law requires consent, our consent banner asks first and analytics cookies are blocked until you agree. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we honor it.
Affiliate links
Many product links on this site are affiliate links, primarily through the Amazon Associates Program. When you click one, the retailer may set its own cookie to attribute a later purchase to us. That cookie is the retailer’s, governed by the retailer’s privacy policy, not ours – we never see your payment details, your address, or what you ultimately bought as an individual. We see only aggregate commission reports. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains the arrangement in full.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area
Our lawful basis for analytics is your consent, which we ask for before those cookies are set. Our lawful basis for security logging is legitimate interest in keeping the site available and free from abuse.
When you make a choice on the consent banner we store a record of it so we can demonstrate that consent was given: a truncated IP address, the categories you accepted or refused, the region the choice was made in, the version of the policy in force, and the date and time. It is not linked to a name or an account. We keep these records only as long as they are useful as evidence of a valid consent choice, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time by emailing privacy@taylorco.net.
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email privacy@taylorco.net. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Email privacy@taylorco.net and we will respond within the period your state’s law requires.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.
How long we keep things
- Google Analytics – user-level and event-level data is retained for 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically. Aggregated reporting totals are not subject to that limit.
- Server logs – retained by our host for a short rolling window for security and troubleshooting, then overwritten.
- Email correspondence – kept for 24 months from the last message in the thread, then deleted.
Links to other sites
When you follow a link to a retailer or any other site, you are subject to that site’s privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We keep WordPress and its plugins updated and apply standard hardening. No site can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously and we do not hold the kind of data that makes us an attractive target – we have no customer accounts and no payment records.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
